Because the law impacts how you conduct school business, you need the most accurate, up-to-date information available. To help meet your needs, ASBA is hosting its 2023 School Law Seminar on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. This one-day legal seminar is designed for school board members, school administrators, and attorneys, so please bring your district’s legal counsel or school attorney. A detailed agenda is coming soon, but topics to be covered include:
- Ever wonder about the daily life of a school district’s in-house attorney? Hear from our attorney panel about how this works for them and their school districts, including the sometimes-difficult question of “who is the client.”
- Arkansas’s Veteran’s Preference Law: you may be aware of this with respect to school district recruiting, but are you aware that it would also apply to the school district’s superintendent search and be very much the business of the board? Get up to speed on how to comply with this law.
- No one wants to be accused of illegal discrimination! Besides just being wrong, it is a public relations nightmare. This session will help you learn how to prevent an EEOC complaint from ever happening.
- Life would be easier if everyone would just behave. But everyone does not. Everyone always loves these sessions on “lessons learned” coupled with sound legal advice gleaned from sexual and employee misconduct investigations.
WHEN: Tuesday, February 7, 2023 Check-in and continental breakfast begin at 7:45 a.m. The Seminar starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. (Lunch is included for in-person attendees.)
