The ASBA New Board Member Institute is designed to assist board members in their transition from private citizen to public official. To help with this, the goal of this institute to provide each member with the knowledge and skills needed to undertake matters they will face both at the board table and in their communities. During this day-long training we will focus on the following:
- board governance (roles and responsibilities)
- school finance (funding, budget development, financial management, & audit)
- school law (the Freedom of Information Act, executive session, ethics & other critical legal issues), and
- student achievement.
