Arkansas law requires that all newly elected school board members receive 9 hours of training before December 31 of the year that follows their being elected (and 6 hours per year after this). Within the initial 9 hours are two subjects that are required. One is how to read and interpret an audit (Act 1213 of 2011) and the second is what board members need to know about school safety and bullying (Act 1029 of 2019). The audit training is included in the agenda at New Board Member Institute offered in late spring and again in December. The school safety and bullying training is available upon request via video.
