For districts with Spring school elections, the candidate filing period begins on November 6, 2023, and closes at noon on November 14, 2023. The Spring election will be held on March 5, 2024. Candidate petition circulation began on August 16.
The Spring 2024 School Board Election timeline is as follows:
- August 16: Candidate petition circulation period opened. (90 days prior to the close of the candidate filing period)
- November 6: Candidate filing period opens. (First Monday in November before the election)
- November 14: Candidate filing period closes at noon. (Eight days after the first Monday in November)
- December 5: Deadline to notify county clerk of millage information (89 days prior to the election due to the election being during a presidential election year)
- January 4: Deadline to publish the proposed budget. (60 days before the election)
- February 20: Early voting begins.
- March 5: Annual School Election Day.

Due to the passage of Act 305 of 2023, write-in candidacy is no longer an option so an individual wishing to run for the school board in the Spring will need to collect the necessary signatures and submit their petition during the filing period.
