Do you and your district employees responsible for the hands-on management and administration for absences, disability and FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) really understand the intricacies and requirements of the laws that apply? Do you/they have the skills and knowledge needed to keep from misinterpreting or unintentionally not comply with the law?

    • Day One: Attendees will get a comprehensive overview of the law, cover the duties and responsibilities of the employer, and the rights of the employee of FMLA. There will be a strong emphasis on the interplay with sick or other leave, leave taken for childbirth and child bonding, and the employee’s right to job restoration.
    • Day Two: The second day will take up where day one left off and go in-depth with form completion, timelines, health insurance during FMLA, administrative responses, and real-world practice scenarios.

The workshops will begin at 10 a.m. and dismiss at 1 p.m. No meals are included. Each class is limited to only 20 students and registrants must attend both days. Click on one of the dates below to register and for more information:

You are invited to register and join ASBA staff attorney Kristen Garner for this popular summer training session - Administrative Directives and Hard Conversations. Kristen will use real-life scenarios to teach building administrators and classified supervisors how to properly document employee misconduct or performance problems, while at the same time explaining to school board members what goes on behind the scenes (and why they can and should have no participation in this process). Year after year, we hear from participants that this in-depth and hands-on training is the most valuable and useful training participants have had!

The training sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and dismiss at 2 p.m. The number of registrants for each five-hour workshop will be limited, so reserve your spot soon. Lunch will be provided onsite and is included in the registration fee. For more information and to register, click on a date below:

    1. Student Essay/Speaking Contest – contest deadline Oct. 26th

NEW THIS YEAR:  The Arkansas School Boards Association is holding a personal essay/speaking contest where 11th and 12th grade students will have an opportunity to present before an audience of more than 600 school board members and administrators during the ASBA Annual Conference, held December 5-7, 2018 at the Marriott Hotel and Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.
