Thirteen board members earn Pinnacle Award

Thirteen school board members have been recognized by the Arkansas School Boards Association as Pinnacle Board Members, which is the highest award and recognition for an individual school board member in Arkansas. This year’s recipients of the Pinnacle Award are:

  • Bill Clements, Conway
  • William Vance, El Dorado
  • Susan Heil, Fayetteville
  • Debbie Ugbade, Hot Springs
  • Deborah Smith, Malvern
  • Mike Dabney, Marked Tree
  • Neal Pendergrass, Mountain Home
  • Dorothy Williams, North Little Rock
  • Steve Williams, Paris
  • John Gibson, South Conway County
  • Raymond Jones, White Hall
The Pinnacle Award is bestowed on board members who have accumulated at least 200 hours of continuing education through workshops, seminars or other board development activities designed to improve their effectiveness as members of the local school board. The award is highest achievement of a three-level professional development program designed by the ASBA Board of Directors to foster ongoing and continuous learning for Arkansas school board members. Training focuses on Arkansas school law, finance, leadership, board responsibilities, community relations, effective meeting operation and current information on education-related issues.
