The Arkansas School Boards Association Annual Conference is the largest and most anticipated ASBA meeting of the year. While this year the conference may look a little different, and we won't get to see your smiling faces in person, we hope you'll find it to be just as enriching and educational as always.
Although different in 2020, this event brings together school board members, superintendents, and other school leaders from across Arkansas. The schedule offers a number of general sessions and two different time slots where you may choose from a number of breakout sessions that we think will both inspire and inform you. A LITTLE ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Delegate Assembly will be on Wednesday and although only appointed delegates can vote, all registrants are may observe the proceeding. There will be virtual exhibit hall times before and after the delegate assembly. For the first time, attendees can receive credit for spending time in the exhibit hall (documented via ZOOM records).
The opening keynote presentation on Thursday entitled “All Means All: Bridging the Achievement Gap” will be presented by Mr. Patrick Briggs. He is a thought-provoking and motivational speaker who will encourage listeners to examine their mindsets and practices as they consider if “all means all” when educating students. We hope his high-energy presentation will move listeners to positive action as they lead their districts and work with their communities.
The after-lunch general session on Thursday will be a panel discussion entitled “How Are We Doing? Challenges and Progress in Meeting the Mental Health Needs of Students, Educators, and Families in Today’s World.” With a semester of school in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic nearly complete, members of the panel will examine how our schools and communities are handling the varying mental health needs of students, educators, and their families. They will also discuss challenges but also focus on potential solutions.
Breakout sessions, offered at two different times on Thursday, will address legal issues, governance and leadership, equity and student achievement, and other relevant topics.
Friday’s schedule will look very similar to the schedule in prior years. It’ll all be done as a general session with presentations by Commissioner Johnny Key and Governor Hutchinson. We’ll also have a panel of legislators together to talk about the upcoming session and as time permits, answer your questions.

The registration fee for this conference is $225 per person ($325 for non-members of ASBA) through December 1, 2020 and $250 ($350 for non-members of ASBA) after December 1, 2020. Requests for cancellation must be in writing to email@example.com. Cancellation requests received through December 2, 2020, will be refunded at 100 percent. Cancellation requests received after December 2,2020, will be refunded at 50 percent. There will be no refunds for cancellations after December 8, 2020.
