Hot Topics on Tap for School Law Seminar

Registration is open for the 2014 ASBA School Law Seminar. The Law Seminar is an opportunity for school board members, superintendents and school attorneys to hear presentations on significant school law issues. Our outstanding slate of presenters will provide in-depth information on some of the pertinent legal topics of concern to Arkansas public schools. By participating in this seminar, you will:
  • Hear what districts must do to provide applicants who are military veterans preference in hiring decisions.
  • Learn about the Professional Licensure and Standards Board and the process and timeline for filing an ethics complaint.
  • Know when and why to call in outside experts to investigate an incident.
  • Discuss exempt employees, employees with two jobs, and determine if you are in compliance with Federal law.
The Seminar will be held March 11, 2014, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in west Little Rock. Registration is $150 per person through February 18, 2014, and $175 after February 18. Requests for cancellation received through Monday, March 4, will be refunded at 100 percent. Cancellation requests received after March 4 will be refunded at 50 percent. Check-in and continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m. The seminar begins at 9 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. Lunch is included.
