December 22, 2013--Bob Warren, a member of the Elkins School Board, received the 2013 Dr. Daniel L. Pilkinton Award for Outstanding Service to Public Education from the Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA). The award was presented earlier this month at the annual ASBA Conference in Little Rock. For the past 19 years, ASBA has honored outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to public education with the Dr. Dan Award. The award was established in honor of the late Dr. Daniel L. Pilkinton, known as Dr. Dan to many, who was acknowledged throughout the state for his lifelong service to public education. He was closely linked to ASBA in its early years and was the association's first executive secretary. Warren has had a lifetime of influence in public education through serving the Elkins School District as a teacher and principal. Since 2000, he has provided student-focused leadership as a member of the Elkins board of education. Warren achieved Honor Board Member status in 2001, Outstanding Board member in 2003, Master Board Member in 2003 and the Pinnacle Award in 2007. Last year, he was elected to serve the larger educational community as the ASBA Region 1 Director.
