The 2014 New Board Member Institute will be held October 14 at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Little Rock. Check-in and networking begin at 8 a.m. and the sessions run from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. School board members will earn six hours of training credit for attending. The institute is designed for newly elected school board members, but all are welcome. ASBA wants to help board members start off strong in serving their schools and students, and dramatically reduce the time necessary to get up to speed. This one-day training will help school board members cope with the first months of service and learn about their critical role and responsibilities. Veteran board members and superintendents are encouraged to take this opportunity to recharge and refresh while supporting new board colleagues.
