Dive in to the depths of social media and discover the rights and responsibilities of students, guidelines for employers and employees, and ways to promote your district. Join Jay Bequette for a two-hour session as he maps out a path to help you face and conquer the challenges of social media in your districts. The general conference, Changes, Challenges, and Opportunities, will begin at 1 p.m. with an opening keynote that will show you how to laugh at the ridiculous and focus on reality in a way that keeps you both responsible and “response-able” in your role as a board member or school leader. Mr. Randy Frazier will kick off the institute with a humorous and inspirational presentation entitled You Can Keep the Change, giving fresh perspectives on how to deal with change and more importantly, how to make positive changes in your life and the world around you through personal leadership.  Raised on a family farm outside of Humphrey, Frazier is an Arkansas native who has been a featured speaker in over 40 states and is recognized nationally as a motivational speaker and trainer. The sessions that follow will focus on Arkansas school district programs that have turned local challenges into opportunities in order to better meet the needs of their students.  Topics include: district conversion public charter schools, summer and after school programs that get results, and secondary programs that offer opportunities beyond a high school diploma to graduating students.  You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of local student performances. Aside from all of the educational opportunities the Summer Institute will offer, Hot Springs’ historical sites, beautiful lakes and cultural events are not to be missed.
