Director of the Arkansas Leadership Academy and The Position: The College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites nominations and applications for the non-tenure track position of Director of the Arkansas Leadership Academy and Clinical Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. The College: The College of Education and Health Professions offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level with more than 3,100 students pursuing coursework both on-campus and off-campus. The College is comprised of academic units based in six buildings on the Fayetteville campus. More than 200 faculty and staff are helping the College achieve its three broad strategic goals: excellence in teaching, research, and service; growth in enrollment and increased diversity; and increased public and private support. The Arkansas Leadership Academy: Established in 1991, the Arkansas Leadership Academy is a nationally recognized statewide partnership of 13 universities; 9 professional associations; 15 educational cooperatives; the Arkansas departments of Education, Higher Education, and Workforce Education; the Arkansas Educational Television Network, and private sector partners. The Academy, through the use of research and best practices, designs creative and innovative approaches to establish learning communities in public schools by developing human resources and by modeling and advocating collaboration, support, shared decision making, team learning, risk taking, and problem solving. Duties and Responsibilities: The individual selected to fill this position will be expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities: (1) directing and guiding the Arkansas Leadership Academy; (2) overseeing personnel; (3) providing fiscal management of the unit; (4) reporting to the partners; (5) conducting meetings with partners in the unit; (6) developing programming; (7) providing overall leadership to the Academy; (8) working with a wide array of constituents; and (9) providing service to the department, college, university, and profession. Appointment and Salary: This is a 12-month, non tenure-track, clinical position at the assistant professor rank. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and background. Starting Date: July 1, 2008, is the anticipated starting date for the new director. University and Location: The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is the land-grant research institution in the state and serves as the major center of liberal and professional education. It is Arkansas’ major source of theoretical and applied research and provides of a wide range of services to people throughout the state and nation. Fayetteville is located in the beautiful Boston Mountain Range in the Northwest corner of the state with an approximate metropolitan population of over 200,000 residents. The city and area have been featured in numerous publications as a very desirable and economical place to live and most recently was listed by Money magazine as one of the “100 Best Places to Live.” Application Procedures: Review of applications will begin June 15, 2008, but later applications will be accepted for review until the position is filled.
