The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) recognizes that boards of education have a legal obligation to evaluate superintendents annually. More importantly, ASBA realizes that it is one of the most important responsibilities of the school board. An effective performance evaluation helps drive school improvement and student achievement, promotes a positive relationship between the school board and superintendent, demonstrates accomplishments of the district and helps in setting annual priorities.
ASBA is currently piloting a comprehensive superintendent evaluation system designed to help school board members and superintendents implement an effective, meaningful superintendent evaluation process that is focused on improving student achievement. Participation in the project and/or use of this system is not mandatory but any district is welcome to volunteer to become part of the project.
Below are the resources that participating districts will need for completing the evaluation process.
